The Frankfurt School is Alive and Well

The Frankfurt School was founded in 1923 at Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany. This group of Marxist, Leninist, Stalinist educators sought to develop a philosophy of "cultural communism." It sought to influence higher education in a non-violent revolution the way the leftists had with the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917. Whatever influence it had in Germany had to expire with the rise of the Third Reich. However, after the war, it settled into the Western university system. Then in the late 1800’s, it combined with religious liberalism and found fertile ground in America’s universities.

After World War II, this anti-capitalism school of thought despised American exceptionalism, wealth, and the free enterprise that made America a great and prosperous nation. Their intent was to promote socialism among the academic elite that would foster equalizing people. In other words, prosperity for no one and poverty for all except for those in government.

The Frankfurt School had its biggest influence at the teaching college of Columbia University in New York City. It was prominent in the University of California Berkeley, Princeton University in New Jersey and Brandeis University. This according to Mike Shutwell of the Epoch Times: "Thus was born the slow relentless shift to the Left for American academia." He went on to say, "A major tenant of the Frankfurt School’s philosophy was the sinister belief that unrestrained sex could be useful and devastating if prompted to run rampant. They promoted compulsory promiscuity, one parent households, pre-marital sex and homosexuality which struck at the heart and core values of family as the mainstay of Western society." The Frankfurt School’s goals were the Marx-Lenin determination to "abolish Western culture" and the Marxist goal for the "ruthless destruction of everything existing."

I say, where collectivism, redistribution of wealth and big government rule, where government schools and the entertainment industries (Hollywood) poison our youth, where the electoral college is vetoed, and common men like you and me are stripped of our freedom of speech, religion and the right to assemble, liberty is lost. Sounds like what is going on now in front of our eyes in the Democratic party.

Well, we have seen this worked out in our very own culture today. The introduction of the sexual revolution, the destruction of the family unit (with over 70% of black children living with a single parent and over 40% of marriages ending in divorce), and the right to assemble and the freedom of speech being denied on our university campuses. And now the Frankfurt School is reverting back to its violent past with the rise of Antifa. The Frankfurt School in America is alive and well.

Sadly, we are witnessing the demise of Americanism now as over 40% of the nation supports socialism, Gallup reports. But it is a fact that the church grows where persecution thrives (as it has in Iraq, China and Africa). Christians and the Christian faith is being persecuted right here in the USA, though not physically at this time but with ideological, intellectual, and financial persecution. These in some cases can be just as painful as physical loss or harm. We are witnessing the loss of what made this nation great — the unity of purpose in all of us for liberty, family values, free enterprise, limited government, and the Gospel of faith. This unity is now fractured and I think irreplaceable and irreparable.

However, like with any persecution, it forces great men to rise up. Ravi Zacharias, Ligionier Ministries and R.C. Sproul, Al Mohler, Harry Reeder, John MacArthur and hundreds of others are proclaiming the Gospel of truth. Pray that God would restore the unity we once had and save this great republic.
