Common Sense Lost
If there is one principle my dad lived by it was common sense. He approached every problem with that as his guide. But what is common sense? "Common," meaning to all and "sense," meaning reasonable. So all men have the ability instilled in them to think or reason from the facts to a truthful conclusion. For example, in Romans 1, the Apostle Paul states that all men can reason that God exists because God is clearly seen in creation. It is commonly known to all men and so reasonable to all that He holds us accountable for unbelief (Romans 1:19-20). However, humans seem to deny this simple principle and in some cases, go wacko. Boys allowed to use a girls’ bathroom! Boys identifying as females and permitted to enter women's athletic competitions… and winning! This because in the men’s division, they would be in last place. Men marrying men and women doing the same! This and much more. The greater concern is that people approve this obscene behavior. Have we flung wide the doors of the loony bin and allowed the inmates to come out and overwhelm us? Soon we will be safer in the institution than outside it. At least there they have rules.
Where did all this craziness come from anyway? Firstly, from the depraved heart of man. "The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked, who can know it," says Jeremiah (17:9). This is the man who has thought all this stuff up. Second, from our educators in colleges and universities that have dozens of irrelevant letters after their names. Don’t you know, professors, that when you put garbage in, poo comes out?! And that’s all your conclusions are worth. Don’t you guys know that God designed biology to determine sexual orientation? You can cut off parts, get injections or cross-dress — it makes no difference. If you were born male or female you will die male or female. You cannot change what God has permanently established. It’s only common sense. Don’t you know that men marrying men and women marrying women is not natural and will never produce children which is one of the reasons for which marriage was designed in the first place?
Adoption by homosexuals who marry or embryo-transplant deny both natural law and the creation ordinance of the family. To Adam and Eve (the family) He said, "Be fruitful and multiply." This family unit was designed by God to be the foundation of all society. It’s only common sense (reasonable to all) not to change what God has established. This for the betterment of mankind! Yet natural man in his twisted mind always wants to deny God yet flirt with and practice evil. Even primitives cultures dig slit (toilet) trenches a distance apart for men and women.
It’s common sense. Have we gone too far and are unable to turn back to rationality? Or are we riding a tidal wave that will crash, driving us all to the brink of insanity? Only a regenerate heart will solve our dilemma. Political correctness is a disease that only the Great Physician can cure. But will He? "Where God also gave them up … who changed the truth of God into a lie and worshipped and served (their own thinking) rather than the creator who is blessed forever" (Romans 1:24-25).
Sadly, all this will lead to the end of our nation as we know it, the nation that started on Christian foundations and the song "Oh beautiful for heroes proved in liberating strife. Who more than self their country loved and mercy more than life (America, the Beautiful, third stanza). For this concept over half a million men died to protect our values and foundations. Did they die in vain? Has this craziness gone too far? Only the gospel can save us and our country now. It’s the age old battle of good versus evil. Thank God in His sovereignty He has given us an administration that is dedicated to fighting this evil lunacy. Pray God would give all of our leaders a 20cc dose of common sense. Bring back common sense! Vincit Omnia Veritas — the truth conquers everything.
